Rowledge v Yateley Cricket Club U11 Girls Hardball on Mon 05 Aug 2019 at 6pm
Yateley Cricket Club Lost By 24 Runs

Match report So after a really positive season the two best Hardball teams faced off for a winner takes all decider at the Rowledge recreation ground.
yateleys opening batters Hannah H and Amelie took to the field with determination but faced some excellent opening bowling with a maiden over and then a wicket lost in the second over, they then scored steadily until Hannah cut loose in the 4th over hitting to superb boundaries to take the score to 219 after 4 overs. Hannah J and Libby the added 12 to the total to make 231 at the halfway stage. Christa and Niamh followed and thanks in part to a lovely driven 4 from Christa, added 8 to the total to make it 239 of 12 overs. So it was over to the little run machines, but for the first time this season they struggled against the Rowledge main bowlers, who bowled a length that was unplayable. 3 wickets were lost and only 1 run added to the overall total to end on 240 for 7 which felt like it was a low total to defend.
A quick round of Hobnobs and Capri Suns and the girls were ready to see what Rowledge were made of. Four excellent opening overs and we had only conceded 5 runs, this game was on! over 7 saw the first Rowledge boundary and also a wicket for Christa, courtesy of an wonderful catch by Libby. At the halfway point Rowledge were on 222 for 1 and it couldn't be closer. We knew that if we could take some wickets that would be key, unfortunately Rowledge made steady runs with 237 after 12 overs and it would now require some quick wickets. After starring with the ball, Lexi & Millie then won the game with the bat taking the final total to 264 for 1.
The difference between the 2 sides was in wickets lost, we actually make more runs. The two games with Rowledge were played with a great spirit and high quality.
To summarise the first hardball season with these girls, I couldn't have been prouder, We were a few balls from winning the title against a strong Rowledge team. It looks great for next season!
