Match report So close!
Yateley B nearly overcame undefeated top of the table Aldershot A. After a bright start (Jack Rossiter 20) to the batting against some pretty aggressive short pitched bowling, the middle order fell short of expectations but some tail end resistance from the U11s (Ragan Jain 14 n.o.) gave us something to bowl at: 94.
The coach thought he might get an early night as he knew that Aldershot averaged 160+ at home but the lads were undaunted and had them 9 down; keeping them out till the final ball of the nineteenth over. Shay’s legspin and Joe Grimmett’s safe hands ensured that their leading batsman was dismissed for the first time this year. Catches came from Michael and Andre with incredibly tight bowling from all (only 9 extras!). Wickets for Jack, Joe McG, Cam, Shay and Nathaniel, with excellent keeping from George and a sensational run out from distance by Nathaniel added to a great all-round performance in the field.
We may have lost but it felt like a win. Well done lads!
