Finchampstead won the toss and chose to bat first. A steady start from Yateley’s opening bowlers, Jess and Rachel, stopped Finch from scoring too many early runs and Kathryn took a straightforward catch off Jess’s bowling for the first wicket. A change in bowling saw Kayleigh take two wickets – the first from another good catch by Kathryn; and the second by a direct hit. Overall, there was a good performance in the field, with some excellent stops which helped restrict Finch’s run total. Finch finally scored 67 for 3 off their 18 overs.
With 68 runs to win, Jess and AJ then opened the batting for Yateley. Jess was bowled early by a delivery that kept low and, unfortunately, Kathryn soon went in a similar way. However, AJ and Kayleigh started to score some runs, both hitting several boundaries to return the run rated to around four an over. Unfortunately, AJ was bowled a few runs short of the total, but Rachel then joined Kayleigh and the pair reached the required 68 with a couple of overs to spare.
