Match report We arrived at Odiham on a beautiful Spring evening for our first league game of the season. Odiham won the toss and elected to bat first, seeking the advantage of the better early light. However, tight early bowling from Adam G with wickets from Elliott (including a double wicket maiden), James F and Adam D as well as maidens from the Joes (G and McG) and a good first effort by Hudson kept the run rate low. Odiham accelerated the scoring but were halted by a diving catch behind from George off Matthew F’s bowling to dismiss their top scorer. Odiham closed their innings on 81 for 6, a score the lads felt was within their grasp if they batted positively.
The opening pair Elliot and Sam (who top scored with 14) got off to a confident start but the run rate began to slow as the light faded and wickets began to fall at regular intervals. Some excellent late overs from Odiham kept them in the game and the crowd interested right to the end of the innings, with Yateley winning only in the last over.
Overall a good bowling performance and great enthusiasm in the field.
