1st XI Match Report
After losing the toss and being put into field on a glorious sunny day, we knew it was going to be hard work, especially with a very short boundary on one side of the wicket, but buoyed by the past two bowling and fielding performances, Yateley took to the field in high spirits but soon found it hard going and had to change our game plan due to the quick outfield and short boundary. At drinks we assessed what we thought would be a par score and what we wanted to keep Chesham too. We managed to restrict Chesham to 259 off 50 overs with Anthony Muir (4 wickets) and Jonathan Ssebanja (3 wickets) being the pick of the bowlers but were well supported by Harry Bartlett, Jacques Pienaar and Rhodes Franklin. During tea we had a quick chat about the plan of attack for the top 6 bats, of how to go about the run chase, which we did even better than planned. After the loss of our first wicket with the score on 70, we promoted Ryan from 4 to 3 in order to continue the attack and Ryan duly obliged, once Ryan once out, James Halson and James Muir ran Chesham ragged before both departing on 57 and 95 respectively, allowing Dan Bone and Jacques Pienaar to finish the game in style with 6 overs to spare. Great effort by all and good all-round game from us. Thanks to our supporters and Sandy for scoring and lastly, to Chesham for their hospitality.
2nd XI Match Report
Yateley came back from a terrible bowling field and 42 for 4 to gain a creditable draw. Gerard Soames 77no and Joe McGowan 63 led the recovery. Andre Pienaar struck a quick fire 22no. Alas the run chase fell 21 runs short at the end.
4th XI Match Report
The Fourth XI posted a creditable 151 for 9. After early runs from Ian Bailey (14) and Jim Henstock (20) the innings fell away and a low score was in prospect before a fine 8th wicket partnership between Ayush Bose and Chris Roper rescued the situation. When Chris went for 25 Shane Cresswell and Ayush put together a battling unbeaten 10th wicket partnership with Ayush finishing on a fine 47 no. Good spells from Chris Roper, Ryan Stentiford (2 for 32) and Chandu Bhavani (4 for 35) made Wargrave 3rds fight all the way but couldn’t prevent defeat.
