A big thank you to Rachel Hill for organizing a fantastic Independence Social for Saturday – it was great to see so many people in red, white and blue enjoying the USA style BBQ.  Thanks also to Debbie Hill for helping Rachel in the kitchen and Stuart Lipo for manning the BBQ.

We also welcomed Jaz Karim, founder of the Uganda Charity Trust Fund which has supported Jonathan Sebanja’s trip to the UK this summer.  Click here to read about how the charity has supported Jonathan.  To help cover the costs of Jonathan’s trip or donate to the charity to enable other children to be given the same opportunity, please go to www.justgiving.com/Jonathan-Sebanja.

Teas - Many thanks to Liz & Jon Halson and Rachel McGowan for preparing and serving teas for the 1s and 4s.  Sorry to have to thank myself, but can't give Jon all the credit this week!

1st XI Match Report

A hat-trick of wins and five wins in six for the firsts. Eversley won the toss but found batting tough against out pace attack. Whilst we put down one or two half-chances and fielding was excellent in support of an attack which took early wickets and never let up. Eversley finally subsided to just 108 with five wickets for Ants, two for Rhodes and one each for Seb, Stu and Harry. At 41 for 0 the game looked over but our concern that our supporters were too relaxed gave rise to a familiar loss of wickets and at 74 for 6 the game was in the balance as per the Marlow game. On cue Rhodes again kept a cool head and with Seb in support that saw us home by 4 wickets. Rhodes 30 no, Muirey 30 and Seb 17 no were our top scorers. The first half of the season is complete with us in 6th – with only 14 points separating top and bottom in the tightest league in the whole TVL

2nd XI Match Report

Bad day at the office for the seconds when a strong side visited Eversley and came away losers by 9 wickets in a game of 44 overs in total. Only two batsmen reached double figures with Pettsy top scoring with 33 as we reached 95. With the game assured Eversley decided on an early finished closing the game out for the loss of just one wicket in 13 overs – discreet veil will now be drawn.

3rd XI Match Report

A disappointing end to a closely fought game. An opening stand of 97 set Yateley up to amassing a total of 244 for 6. Jason Soames top scored with 54, John Muir , Upkar Shishodia and Haig Franklin all made useful contributions.  Yateley were never in trouble but the bowlers regularly dished up a 4 ball which kept Wokingham interested. However Yateley had 2 balls at the No 11 bat but could not force a result. Joe McGowan and Upkar Shishodia each took 2 wickets.  Match Drawn.
