1st XI Match Report

After losing the toss, Yateley were put in to field (which wasn't a bad thing considering how well we preformed last weekend in the field). Early signs were good with the ball moving and it was Anthony Muir to strike first with the score on 19, however on a quick out field and what looked like a decent batting track, Cookham Dean built a partnership, que James "Burgle" Muir to break the partnership and he did just that. It was a very up and down first innings with the momentum changing often and Cookham Dean finished with 240 off 52 overs. Cookham Dean opted to start with the old ball, which we tried to counter by promoting one of our in form batters, Jacques Pienaar but this was not meant to be and was run out in the second over by a smart bit of fielding. Ryan Bone came to the game under pressure with some low scores but once again, showed his class with a well contracted 70 to get us right back in the game and he was ably supported by James "Burgle" Muir (28) and Jonathan Ssebanja (31 not out) but unfortunately this was not enough and with the pitch miss behaving at the end of the game, the rest of the batsmen were unable to see the team through. Some positives and I still believe we can fight within this league, just need to keep positive and stay mentally strong. Thank you again for our supporters and Sandy for scoring, and finally, thank you to Cookham Dean for a good game.

4nd XI Match Report

A lost toss left Yateley in the field for a fairly gruelling 45 overs. Well I was knackered after running around and diving over everything that came my way. Still, the bowlers stuck to their task and with Brian leaping like a salmon in the slips and John catching like a statue (that's not a joke - he did catch a skyer without moving!) we ended up with five wickets but a lot of runs to chase. Two to Kier, three to Ant. Should perhaps have been one more but with the wind blowing away the sounds the umpire didn't hear the nick that James took cleanly behind the stumps.

Then the chase... well at 12 for 3 after a mere handful of overs, it looked like a disaster in the making. However, Chandu and Anthony had other ideas and a century partnership ensued till Anthony departed on 61. Then with support from Angad and James, Chandu also made his half century in the last over.

How you get from 12 for 3 off seven overs to a comfortable draw I don't know, but Chandu and Anthony do!
