YCC: Highlights of the week (5th Aug-11th Aug) – 1s and 3s close the gap for a promotion spot to single figures

Many thanks to Jane Vincent and Julie King (assisted by Mike Vincent) who produced delicious teas for the 2 home matches.  Thanks also to Gail Wood and Rachel McGowan who produced equally delicious fare for last week’s matches.

3rd XI Match Report
Won the Toss! (maybe not as useless as was thought!!)

Needing a big win to stay in the fight, decided to bat first. G Soames (53) & H Squire (6) got the 3rd's off to a good start putting on 46 in 11 overs. The introduction of the opposition skipper T Choudry saw a quick change in fortunes with H Squire edging his 1st ball and then B Tucker falling to his 3rd ball which cut back from a foot outside his off stump to hit middle (welcome to the 2nd pitch Ben). In strode C James (114) who proceeded to take the opposition bowlers to the cleaners (Not bad Chris, we might invite you back ;-) ). Despite a flurry of late wickets Yateley declared in the 42nd over with the score @ 226 for 9.

When Yateley took to the field after tea we quickly picked up the 1st wicket but North Maidenhead signalled their intent by hitting a few boundaries. So with North Maidenhead racing along @ 42 for 1 off 6 overs, enter C James (7-0-25-4) apparently he bowls as well!! 42 for 1 rapidly became 71 for 6. Tidy spells from T Halson (4-0-14-2) & C King (2.3-0-14-2) put an end to North Maidenhead's resistance, with the opposition finally being bowled out for 112.

Another fantastic performance.

M.O.M: hmm.. difficult one, but I think C James might have edged this one!
