Match report So to the last game of the U13 season and the girls were eager for a win! After losing a few close ones recently unfortunately this game was against 2nd in the league Cove who had only lost to Rowledge this season so getting that win would not be easy. Cove won the toss and on a scorching evening decided to bat. Opening bowling pair of Millie and Amelie did a great job and on a minefield pitch Amelie removed one of their openers early. Yateley rotated the bowling as everyone waited for the arrival of Mimi. The bowling from everyone was excellent and not many runs were being scored. A retirement of the other opener after 6 overs and in came Mimi. Maria brought herself on and nearly had Mimi first ball but it didn’t take long and Maria finally got the prize wicket bowled in her second over. Yateley celebrated like they had won the match (maybe they just had). Next was all about our star u11 bowler Amelie who could not stop taking wickets. She bowled beautifully with such a great control and Cove couldn’t cope. In all Amelie took another 5 wickets all bowled for incredible figs of 3.4 overs 1 maiden 7 runs and 6 wickets!!! So Cove were all out for 85 a superb bowling performance from our team and gave us every chance. Now came the tricky bit Cove had hands down the best opening bowling attack we’ve faced all season. One ball from Mimi was all it needed to prove this was going to be a difficult chase she was rapid fast!!!! Lara at the other end was a great foil for Mimi and started surgically removing our batsmen. Maria finally saw off Mimi and got stuck in once the bowling changed hitting some mighty fours. Lara was kept on and after Maria’s retirement we were soon down to our u11 superstars Ary and Jess. An under 13 tamer version of the usual madhouse running ensued as the girls put on a great partnership of over 30. Ary hit some superb boundaries for a great 14. When Ary was out Maria came back in determined to get the job done. Cove tried everything Mimi came back on but Jess stood tall and finally it was Maria who hit the winning runs. What a fantastic way to end the season. The girls were superb in this game it’s the best team we have beaten this year and we fully deserved to do so. In a season full of great games this was another one and this time we won! Well played girls.
