Highlights
Saturday
1 st XI - beat Beaconsfield by 9 wickets – Beaconsfield ao 118 in 35.2 overs, YCC YCC 119 for 1 in 19.3 overs. Chris James 3 for 21, Stu Lipo 3 for 30, Anthony Muir 3 for 39, Jimmy Halson 79no and James Muir 13no, Ollie Soames 22, 3 catches for Stuart Lipo, 1 for Ryan Bone.
Colin Justice writes - An outstanding performance in the field set up an easy win for the 1s against Beaconsfield. Beaconsfield openers Adam Francis and Ahmed Hussan weathered the opening overs with little difficulty but at 30 for 0 a double bowling change brought immediate dividends for Yateley as Harry Bartlett had Francis caught by Stuart Lipo for 15 and then Stu bowled Hassan for 18. He then proceeded to bowl Mark Morgan and Chris Thomas in quick succession and when Anthony Muir returned to send back Jeremy Suter and Ollie Rendell, the Beaconsfield innings was in tatters at 90 for 6. Yateley then brought back paceman Chris James and he made sure the the tail didn’t wag with three quick wickets that closed out the Beaconsfield innings for a meagre 118 in just 35 overs.
We weren’t in the mood to adopt an over-cautious approach to the run chase and James Halson lead the way with a fine array of attacking shots. He lost fellow opener Ollie Soames for 22 off 20 balls but James Halson and James Muir maintained the momentum and the run a ball run rate to take us home to a comprehensive nine wicket win in just 19 overs. Just a great all-round performance which we must keep going for the last 4 matches and of course the Three Counties Cup Final and Guy Jewell semi-final – all to play for as we go into the last month of the season. Andy's Match Report - Erm.. Won the Toss. That doesn't sound right let me check, yep won the Toss!!!
Decided to bat on a decent wicket. 1st decision break-up the Rock & Pebble monopoly at the top. Rhodes & Rock put on a solid 100 partnership before the umpire decided to give Rhodes out lbw on 49!! (have a heart umpire), and Rock made a solid 36 before giving some catching practice to gully. Peeble (25) & Lee (32) then took Yateley past the 150, and a score of 230/250 looked on the cards. However some tight bowling & a late flurry of wickets reduced Yateley to 192 for 7 off their 47 overs.
Finchampstead's response never really got going as Upkar (3-8) & Liam (2-23) tied up the ends, despite yours truly giving the opposition every chance! (now which way to the hands go?). Finchampstead were eventually dismissed for 54 in the 34th over, with Haig (3-15) & T Halson (1-1) clearing up the tail. As for me, well I did erm zip, John M I hope you're keeping my seat warm in the 4th's!!
M.O.M Upkar Shishodia (10-6-8-3), narrowly pipping R Franklin 49 (Well Upkar did buy the beer afterwards!!)
4th XI - beat NPL Teddington by 3 wickets, Teddington 88ao, YCC 89 for 4. Ian Bailey 30, Elliot Mitchell 28, Joe McGowan 12 runs, 3 wickets and 2 catches, 2 wickets each for Robin Smith, Elliot Mitchell and Anthony McGowan, 1 catch each for Ian Bailey, Elliot Mitchell and Jim Henstock.
