Match report Under clear blue skies, Yateley ‘agreed’ to bat first and Anthony and Sanjeet got the innings off to a flying start, but even after Anthony departed, Savir and Oliver kept the momentum going with Sanjeet who went on to make a hard earned ton before being caught. Duncan and Vinay then kept the momentum going and the innings finished on a respectable 275-9 off the 40 overs.
Shreyas and Will opened the attack and both took early wickets in their spells. They were replaced with Nathan and Savir who both caused early problems for Sandhurst who were soon 8 wickets down and a long way short of their target of 276.
Then the game changed as Joe Ash of Sandhurst showed the true nature of the pitch by launching the ball to all parts of the ground and scored a brisk century putting the pressure on the home bowlers. With just 29 required and plenty of overs left it took a spectacular running catch from Oliver to thankfully clinch the game for Yateley. A great game with over 500 runs and played in the right spirit!
Thank you to Sandhurst for being just sporting opponents and also to Brian and his ground staff for such a nice wicket to play on. It was good to have so much youth and enthusiasm on show at the club!
