Match report With Englands world cup win fresh in the memory the Under 11 girls took to the field in a top of the table clash against Rowledge. we couldn't match the excitement of yesterday could we?
Skipper Aryana won the toss and chose to bowl first, A tight first over from Amelie only went for 2 and then jess stepped up with a wicket maiden, what a start. Rowledge started to rebuild until Libby bowled a Rowledge batter to make the score 224 at the halfway stage. Rowledge then started to hit some boundaries, but a nice run out from Aryana, and excellent C&B for Christa and Libby bowled another Rowledge Batter meaning a final total of 269 for 5 was posted.
So Yateley fancied their changes of chasing this total down and Hannah H and Christa made a solid start to leave the total on 217 for 1 after 4 overs. Unfortunately we lost a few wickets in the next 4 overand despite a lovely flick for 4 by Libby, at the halfway stage we were still on 217 and the game was slipping away. The parents were hopeful but realistically thought it was a tough ask. Niamh and Amelie had other ideas and hit 3 lovely boundaries between them to take the total to 236 off 12 overs. So 33 was a big ask of 4, but with the way jess and Aryana run between the wickets we always had a chance of nicking it and 10 of the 13th over helped. However Jess unfortunately hit wicket twice in 2 overs and left us on 251 after 15 overs. so with one over left this would take a huge final over to win the match. the last over had everything, some extras meant it lasted 10 balls and included 4 byes a superb pull for 4 off a no ball by Jess. Yateley Ended on 273 for 7 following a bit of confusion on the score in the frantic final over.
What a wonderful game played in a great spirit.
