Match report A gentle friendly to close the season - Upkar skippered, won the toss, opted to bat - and how!
A rapid start was slightly tempered by the loss of 3 early wkts within 5 overs. That brought Cameron and Vinay together who both proceeded to dismantle the M&B bowling with some classy and ferocious hitting. Cameron looked well set for a big score and although he hit his Yateley best of 79, we were all a but surprised when he was finally trapped LBW. Undaunted by the loss, Vinay continued in the same vain eventually reaching his maiden YCC century (although I learned later, not his first ever!), and he was eventually prised from the wicket, not by the bowling but by our own skipper, for 121. Not quite sure what he would have made if he had continued, there was still 9 overs left! But his withdrawal allowed further contributions from Owen and John McG. 341 for 8!! Game over? - it felt like it!
M&B's reply was solid but they were shackled from the start by Sam and Owen, something had to give. And a fine catch behind by Anthony off Rob accelerated their decline. Further wkts for Sam, Cam, John, Will and Upkar, backed up by some good catching and M&B were eventually dismissed for 67. We clearly had a stronger side than our last meeting with them, they clearly had weaker but all played in a great spirit.
