Match report A warm and sunny afternoon at Yateley sees the visit of promotion chasing Stoke Green and the day starts well when the visiting captain makes the error of calling heads
which allows Yateley to avoid exposure to the mid afternoon sunshine and get first use of the pitch.
The openers struggled to find fluency against generally tight bowling and Asim eventually got trapped in front for the first wicket to fall. Pete and Ollie both perished trying to press on
as did the skipper stranded out of his crease after a tired and ill-judged foray down the wicket. Owen valiantly battled on playing some nice off side shots, but couldn’t find a solid partner and
the innings ended on a disappointing 132 – well short of any par.

The attack started well, with Robin (after some calibration) trapping their no.2 in his first over and then Owen getting the other opener to nick off to Pete behind the stumps for a second wicket and
he was unlucky not to get a batter return beating the bat on several further occasions. The visiting batsmen however settled down and despite another being removed by Sanjeet their no 3 Kuthokathen
comfortably saw them reach the required total.

It was not a disgrace to lose to a strong outfit and it was good to see a lot of energy in the field and positive encouragement in adversity. Hopefully the team can run off a couple of victories in the final league match and friendly.
