Yateley Cricket Club Won by 39 runs in an exciting match

Match report This was one of those days when all the hard work on the training ground pays off. on another hot morning the girls put in a near faultless display.
Yateley batted first and each pair scored consistently well, Aryana and Jessica started strongly with 30, Lucy and Libby did even better with 34, Hannah and Niamh scored 27 due to the loss of a wicket and the Millie and Maja smashed 41 to take us to 328.
With such a good score on the board, a win was on the cards and the girls were determined to get it.
Our bowling was excellent with Libby and Maja taking 2 wickets each and Niamh getting 1. it was great to see catches being held by Lucy and Maja and there were also 2 excellent run outs.
At one stage in the middle of the innings we had a hectic few overs with numerous overthrows from our excitable players that was in danger of letting Rowledge back in the game. thanks to 2 of the old heads Millie and Hannah we calmed things down and held onto the ball to make sure we kept a healthy winning margin with Rowledge totalling 289.
What was great to see was two teams playing the game in a tremendous spirit and after the game the Rowledge coach took time to compliment our Girls which I am sure meant a lot. Also the two teams got together and chose a batter and bowler of the match on the opposition team which again was nice for the girls.
Great to get a win under our belts, especially for the newer girls.
