Yateley Cricket Club Lost by 8 runs

Match report We lost the toss and were asked to field. Wickets were hard to come by on a track with very little grass on it but the girls bowled well (Pick of the bowlers was Megan Stentiford - 4 Overs - 0 Wickets for 13 runs), The outfield was very dry and hard so the ball regularly raced to the boundary. We managed to add one wicket to our tally when Eve Long managed to run out one of the Aldershot players with a brilliant direct hit. After 20 overs Aldershot had set a target of 163 for Yateley to chase.
Caty Salter and Freya Marshall went out to the middle with strict instructions to keep the ball down and they soon set about chasing down the runs. Both Caty and Freya retired not out after fantastic knocks which put us right on target for a tight finish. 163 was always going to be a tough ask and, despite the girls best efforts, we fell short by only 8 runs. a great chase and a thoroughly entertaining game of cricket to watch. Well done girls.
