Yateley Cricket Club Won with good spirit!

Match report A golden late summer evening saw the U10 girls finally play their long overdue ‘League’ match v Eversley. Rules were relaxed and it was played in the spirit of a friendly.
6 girls (including Rachel who stepped in at the last minute) walked out onto the main ground at Eversley to enjoy their final match of the season. Some super bowling and wicket keeping followed with a total of 6 Eversley wickets falling. On an unmarked pitch the girls began to find their line and length although not their voice – I have never heard them so quiet!

After drinks Maisie and Jessica slowly started the innings with a solid defence; keeping out some excellent bowling from Eversley. As their confidence grew they began to look for the singles. Second pair Aryana and Hannah were reluctant to run but were excellent at ball watching, leaving the wides and defending the straight. Both kept their wicket against some good bowling and retired not out. Our final pair decided that they would take on the bowling and ran the byes, the wides and looked for singles. Super calling, backing up and shot timing had Eversley on the back foot. A good partnership and a great example for the younger girls to see running between the wickets.
A wonderful end to the season. Thanks to Bill and Gill for scoring for both teams and assistant coach Caty for helping me run the warm ups.
