Yateley Cricket Club Won By 12 Runs

Match report In what proved to be a fantastic advertisement for girls cricket, Yateley under 12 girls took on a very strong Aldershot Team in the league decider.

Captain Sasha won the toss and without hesitation elected to Bat. The opening girls struggled with the bounce on a hard artificial surface and were soon struggling at 4 wickets for only 49 runs. Megan Stentiford and Abigail Balcombe steadied the ship and with great backing from Nayani Davies Patel and Ella Pullinger managed to drive Yateleys score to a respectable 116 for 6 after our 20 overs.

Aldershots batting line up was strong but regular wickets from Yateley (including a hat trick from Nayani Davies Patel) and some very disciplined bowling ensured we kept the run chase short of what was required.

Aldershot were all out in the final over falling short of Yateleys score by 12 runs. This win makes it 7 wins in 7 games and results in the Yateley under 12 girls winning the North Hampshire Under 12 Girls League.

Man of the Match this week is shared by 2 girls both who had remarkable performances. Well done to Megan Stentiford for her 36 Not Out and 2 Wickets for 11 Runs off 4 Overs and Nayani Davies Patel for her 3 Wickets (a hat trick!!) for 11 runs off her 3 overs.

Finally, well done to all the girls who played in the squad this year. This league win was a true team effort with everyone making a very big contribution.
