Match report On a bright and chilly day at Kidmore End Yateley CC won the toss and elected to bowl in the hope of giving everybody a game.
Robin Smith and Ben Simmons kept it tight for the first 12, but some loose change bowling let the home team break the shackles and 225 looked a possible target. Anthony McGowan then took 3 wickets to stop the momentum and supported by the returning openers kept the chase to 193 to win.
Some loose bowling allowed John Garrett and Duncan McGregor to get off to a brisk start and the target never seemed totally out of reach. Cameos from Pete Mitchell, Jo McGowan, Ben Simmons and Andre Pienaar kept the tempo high and despite Mike Brown missing a full toss with victory in sight, John McGowan and Jon Simmons scrambled home with 2 balls to spare!
The game was played in good spirits and thanks to Kidmore End for their hospitality. I hope this enthuses players for the start of the league season next week!
