Match report Yateley lost the toss on a slow pitch and were put into bat. There was a brisk start with Anthony McGowan playing attacking cricket which brought up his 50 by the 15th over only to chop one on almost immediately. Chandu got one that nipped back and Jim Henstock had a brief cameo before Wes Day picked out square leg leaving Yateley on an improbable 153-5 at drinks (23)! Samar then brought up his more measured 50 and accelerated to 72 before holing out and despite an obdurate innings from Simon Neilson and Robin Shome who hit a lofted 6 over mid on YCC were bowled out for 212 from 37. Andre Pienaar and Wes Day bowled tidily and Andre had the Newbury opener picked up at slip before tea. After tae Wes induced two more nicks that stuck and then bowled two more to put YCC in control. Bharath got the scant reward of just one wicket for a tidy spell and Owen Evans replacing Wes took 2 wickets in his tidy spell including the Newbury skipper which ended any effective resistance. Anthony then gave the ball some air to buy the last wicket to get us to the bar with more than 10 overs to spare.
A special mention in the field to Owen Evans for his liveliness and Simon Neilson for his commitment to using any part of his body to stop the ball!
