Match report With our final friendly v Eversley the Ladies decided to shake up the format a little, adopting the 2 for a Wide/No Ball rule and playing 30 overs. Fiona pulled on the WK gloves with enthusiasm (and a little trepidation) with a new batting order and bowling line-up in place.
Eversley won the toss and chose to bat first on a hot, windy afternoon on a good batting track so captain Alanna skilfully managed the bowling to maximise wicket opportunities. Anita took her first wicket in Ladies cricket - straight onto the middle stump. Catherine's safe hands at square leg gave a delighted Freya her wicket while Jasmine found her line and length and took a super C&B to dispatch Eversley's experienced opener. Alanna took two quick wickets and the run rate slowed. Yet again, good backing up all round in the field with great support from all the ladies.
All accompanied by music blasting out from the Chequers pub over the road...Pink Floyd, Steppenwolf, Eric Clapton (I couldn't name all of them but then I was supposed to be focusing on the cricket...) Hard to resist a bit of a dance!

After a tasty tea openers Molly and Fiona strode out to the middle and after a quiet start (Fiona playing defensive shots!) they took the bowling on, rotating the strike and running well. Excellent calling and backing up from Molly ensured no runs were left on the pitch and Fiona quickly reached her 50. Catherine and Molly continued the run chase and by over 26 the total needed was met.
It was agreed we would play on to over 30 so Jemma, Hannah and Ellie brought us to 30 overs with Hannah batting confidently in her first ladies match this season.
A happy finish to the season played against our long standing local friends Eversley.

A special thanks to Bert King who has umpired the vast majority of the Ladies matches this season. We have appreciated all your hard work, patience and diligence....and your bowler's markers!
