Match report A spicy game if truth be told.
BOTH teams won the toss!! (don't ask) - DC batted first.
They are top of the league and you can see why with some pugnacious batting throughout. That said, their opener, Maulik, did chance his arm quite a few times through slips, gully and 3rd man, possibly using more lives in one game than most do all season. I would probably have been best served by a fly slip or short 3rd man much earlier in the piece – lesson learned.
Ayush opened up and continued to show the undoubted talent that we all know he has, and he snared the first 2 DC batsmen by re-arranging their furniture. Unfortunately we lost our way a little after that as Maulik went on to make 79 and Bhavin bludgeoned 67. Catches went down amid the run fest too which was disappointing.
Tidy spells from Angad, Chandu and Anthony reigned them in a little bit but they finally declared after 42 overs on 253 for 6. A tough ask.

And at 10 for 3, a tall order indeed. Enter Sid and Ayush. A polished partnership of 71 steadied the ship until Sid fell for 23 but then Angad Matthews Chatty Man joined the fray. A slightly less typical innings from him with lots of running, including several 3s. The only player in our team who can keep up with Ayush though. Once he departed for 34, Ayush and Anthony (14) carried us on at a steady rate but any small chances we did have subsided when Ayush was excellently caught & bowled for 47.
It was left to Chandu and I to see us through to what I think was a creditable draw. 189 for 8 was a good effort and would probably win it most weeks for us.
Well done, chaps, amidst some rather, shall we say, “enthusiastic” appealing. Their wicket keeper dancing down the track more times than any of our batsmen.
