Match report Yateley 4th XI played there 2nd league game of the season but only had 10 men after Doorbar dropped out though ill health on the morning of the game. Yateley lost the toss and opposition chose to bat, probably becasue I sneakily tossed up on the U13's pitch, but then owned up and he stayed with his choice.

Opened with the two McGowans, Anthony & Joe, both bowled well, Anthony first spell 7-1-1-12 and Joe 6-2-0-7, could have had the first wicket in 4th over, Rhodes Franklin taking the catch off but not claiming it as he wasn't sure it was clean, exceptional sportsmanship from Rhodes as the batsman had walked and was nearly off the square.

Good spells from Angad Mathews and Rhodes, both long spells but very tight, Angad was a bit wayward when bowling spin for first two overs but then changed to seam, won't try that again.

Bought Anthony on for another 7 over spell with Angad to close out the innings, Anthony finishing on 14-1-56-2, Angad 19-1-64-2 and Rhodes 14-2-1-35

Runs per overs wise 10 overs 16-1, 20 overs 50-1, 30 overs 77-1, 40 overs 106-1, 52 overs 169-5, so we came back well with the wickets but missed the extra fielder and they were chasing the singles more and also hitting out. 29 wides and no balls gave them an extra 5 overs which we didn't need, 6 byes through Harry Maxfield who kept very well to some wayward bowling at times, a pleasure to have him in the team.

Opened with Stuart Hill and Duncan, got to 37-1 in 13 overs when Hill was out, Rhodes was out quickly which was dissapointing. Angad hit a quick 24 when 3rd wicket went down on 79 in 24th over and then Duncan fell for 39 in 25th over when score was 81. Both Mike Brown and Harry fell to very good balls which moved a long way off the seam, only ones all game that did, Mike out for 3 and Harry for 17. Sam Hill hit a well struck 15, John McGowan 8 and final pair Joe and Anthony 4 and 1 respectively.

A good game where one more player as a bowler and fielder, and then as a batsman might at least have seen us through to hold on for the draw if not take the win, only 32 short with 4.1 overs left.
