Match report Never a dull moment at London Road and we began with a full-on cat fight involving a wide range of rather choice expletives reminiscent of a Channel 4 docu-soap right outside the pavilion. Still, things calmed down when the police arrived…
Hang on, you didn’t think I meant the Yorkers were involved did you…tut, tut!

This week we were playing our favourite opposition, Langley Manor who cheerfully batted their way to 88 all out with tight fielding from all the Yorkers. Newbie Alice let nothing through as well as taking her first ‘ladies’ wicket, Rachel D flew around the boundary to stop any 4s, while ‘soft hands’ Addie notched up 3 catches. Corinne and Rachel M in unfamiliar close in positions stopped several singles and all the time Captain Sue kept up her enthusiastic banter from behind the wicket.
Leanne broke the top of off stump with her wicket (hmmm, do we charge her for that I wonder?) while Heather sneaked 2 in her final over.

After a jolly nice tea (well done Yorkers – you did us proud!) Emma W and Debbie strode out to see off their openers. Both showed great patience until Langley finally broke through their defences. Alanna and Addie then built up a wonderful partnership of nearly 50, delighting the spectators until Addie was finally bowled. A couple more patient overs (well, it was Rachel Mc batting) and the Yorkers had reached their target.

Eventful, fun, enthusiastic, good-natured, sporting (the LM batmen who fell and was injured half-way down the pitch…) with some extra ‘special’ memories too…
