Match report Time to lay the ghosts of the past to rest as we faced last year’s nemesis…St Cross. Who could forget last year’s game…the only good thing we salvaged was the idea of sweets at tea (oh, and doilies…).

Our openers Emma B (92 NO) and Emma C (26) proved an immovable pair with their first wicket stand of 122 even causing St Cross’ captain to change her famous run-up, but to no avail. A confident cameo from Jess and a score of 174 to defend.

St Cross began quietly with Debbie, Alice and Georghia’s tight bowling supported by the ever-committed Sue, but with no wickets falling the opening pair began to gather pace and the scoreboard began to tick over. A change of bowler and Addie’s spin had them confounded. Superb fielding from Claudia, Rachel and Laura kept the runs down while a wicket from Addie gave the Yorkers the breakthrough they needed.

Close of play and the Yorkers were victorious…pride restored.
