Match report This week saw the local derby…young ‘uns v slightly older and getting-on-a-bits…
The Yorkers went into bat with a new opening partnership of Emma V and Laura. Great communication and running between the wickets got the scoreboard humming along until an ambitious call left Laura short of her crease. Emma and Rachel continued to build the score with Emma V finally out just one run short of retiring. Sue (There’s a run there!) and Rachel (Go for it!) scampered between the wickets, finally ending the innings on 126 for 2.
Our target now was to bowl as economically as possible and to take wickets…
Emma V got the innings off to a tight start but Addie had plans of her own, fiercely hitting that ball (Green Machine, anyone?) and trying to get past the fearless Laura and Kez. Corinne’s sharp reactions kept byes to a minimum while calm fielding ran out the opening batswoman. A leftie contest between Rachel and Heather left the opposition 2 wickets down with a lightning reaction catch by Emma V from Laura’s bowling dismissing Addie. Tight bowling kept the pressure on the Doosras until a wicket on the penultimate ball left them just 10 short at the close.
