Match report Winning the toss and batting first against the team starting the day bottom of the league proved to be an inspired decision at Theale & Tilehurst on Saturday. A second wicket partnership between James Muir (91) and Chris Petts (47) of 130 laid the platform for the other Yateley batsmen to push the score up to 256 for 8 after 52 overs.

The opening bowling partnership of Harry Bartlett and Anthony Muir reduced the Theale top order to 15-3 before some limited resistance from the Theale middle order meant Yateley required 3 wickets from the last 15 overs. Anthony Muir then took a fantastic catch at deep square leg giving 12 overs to get the last two wickets. Gerhard Pienaar then got the next wicket with another Anthony Muir catch followed by Stuart Lipo taking the final wicket with 3 overs to spare.

This was a throughly good all round performance and moved Yateley up to third in the division.
