1st XI Match Report
The firsts took a major step towards securing promotion to Division 1 with a crucial 4 wicket win over promotion rivals Kidmore End, replacing them at the top of Division 2B. Meanwhile neighbours Bagshot did us a massive favour by beating the only other contenders, Boyne Hill.
Kidmore End made a steady start and at 58 for 1 and with Joe Dixon going well, there was little hint of what was to come. But when Stuart Lipo clean bowled Dixon the flood gates opened and Stu and Nibs sent back the middle order in double quick time and at 82 for 7 Kidmore’s innings was in tatters. A mini revival to 114 for 7 was cut short by three quick wickets for Tom Wood and Kidmore End finally succumbed for a meagre 119 all out with Woody (4 for 19), Stu (3 for 27) and Nibs (2 for 29) taking the bowling honours
We quickly lost Oliver Soames and Woody but Ryan (33) and Jimmy Halson (31) steadied the ship with a much needed 50 partnership and although a mini- collapse left us at 91 for 6 it was appropriate that bowling heroes Niblett (26no) and Lipo (10no) calmly saw us home for a vital win that leaves us 7 points clear of Kidmore End at the top and facing third placed Boyne Hill (13 points behind us) in the last game of the season.
