U9s win the Basingstoke Festival
The U9s entered the Basingstoke festival again this year and were drawn in a tough group, needing to beat amongst others Hook and Newnham and Eversley (who both had their eye on the top prize) to reach the semi-finals of the Cup competiton.
This pitted us against Hartley Wintney who narrowly defeated us at the same stage at the Zooters festival earlier this season. This time however Yateley prevailed passing their total with 4 overs left and then seeing off the final bowlers. This put us up against Odiham and Greywell in the final who we put in and we kept down to a reasonably competitive total. The boys chased hard showing a steely determination which saw them run a bye on the last ball to secure a one run victory !! Congratulations to the boys for a superb effort and I genuinely beleive the best team on the day won ... just!
