Yateley U15 crowned Hampshire County Champions
Yateley U15 were crowned Hampshire County champions on 12 July following a keenly fought final at Hursley Park CC against nearby club St Cross. Batting first on a dull but thankfully dry evening Oliver Soames (19) and Liam Roper (18) gave us a solid start with some excellent running. James Wilson's brisk 31 added further momentum before valuable partnerships involving Armand Bosch (20 no), Sam Kennett (19) and Adam Handcock (9 no) took us to a competitive total of 132 in 20 overs.
In reply our opening bowlers Oliver Dodd (1 for 14 from 4) and Jacob Vincent (2 for 16 from 4) bowled with terrific pace and accuracy restricting the run rate to only 4 an over. Sam Kennett (1 for 18 from 4), Oliver Soames (3 for 14 from 4), Mark Tucker and Harry Wheeler applied further pressure throughout the innings resulting in St Cross falling 32 runs short of our total. Special mention shouild be made of the contribution by Tom Halson who played up an age group and put in a fantastic fielding display.
The U15s now progress to the 2nd round of the ECB National Championships a home game against the winners of the play off between Dorset and Isle of Wight champions.
