Yateley continue to shine indoor!!!!!!

Indoor cricket is important to Yateley CC as it is an excellent way of keeping people involved in cricket all year long. It is our philosophy to use indoor to give our younger players worthwhile experience against senior teams and they have certainly developed as the winter season has gone through. Yateley feature by far the youngest teams in the league. (BUT the experienced players also play their part!!!)

Below is a summary of our performance in the Winter of 2010/11

Yateley Mavericks finished 3rd in the Premier Division.  This year we split the Hook teams who have dominated for years but a new team ‘You Cannot be Serious’ entered the league and stole the honours. Rob Bartlett did an excellent job in putting together a side to compete at this standard.

  • Harry Bartlett, Jimmy Halson, Chris Tull, Chris Petts, Dan Mortimer, Rob Barrett, Jon Dow and Charlie Harris were the mainstays of the team.

Yateley Cavaliers won Division 3 with a team based on youth.  Cavaliers lost 3 of their first 6 games before romping home with 10 successive victories to win the league by 2 points.

  • Ben Tucker, BMW, Chris King, Jacob Vincent, James Wilson led the way supported by the experience of John Howells and John Muir.

Yateley Wanderers led by Gerhardt Pienaar finished 2nd in Division 4. This was a creditable performance as they often had to scrape a team together.

  • Jacques & Gerhardt Pienaar, Gerard Soames, Liam and Chris Roper, Chris Clubb, Harry Wheeler and Asif were the main contributors.
At Eversley the men finished a creditable 2nd to a strong Basingstoke side. We fielded a side that was a mixture of youth and experience.
  • Ants Muir, Harry Bartlett and James Muir all scored 50’s while batting (yes batting).  Asif, Chris Roper, and Andy Davies led the bowling and Ryan Bone kept wicket (and provided useful runs).

If you are interested in playing next winter please make sure that you let us know as we would love to enter teams to play every evening of the week next year.
