John Parker Retires as Club Chairman

22 Jan 2009

After 25 years in the job, John announced at the AGM that he was handing over the reins. No one has put so much into the Cricket Club - he has taken the Club from the early days on Yateley Green to where we are today with a superb ground and facilities. Prior to this he was Club Secretary for more years thasn we can remember. John, we can't thank you enough!
His involvement with the Club won't reduce much - he will remain the figurehead as Non-Exec Chairman and continue to look after the ground and facilities, as well as serving on the Yateley Cricket & Hockey Association Committee.
Such was the enormity of the role it is taking 3 people to replace him! Colin Justice, Chris Jacobs and Richard Mortimer will share the position as Exec Vice Chairmen and chair the Committee on a revolving 4 months basis. Colin is holding office for the first 4 months. These three will continue with their existing roles Colin as Cricket Chairman, Richard as Treasurer and Chris as Club Development Officer and Communications Officer. We'll reveiw this arangement at next year's AGM when we find new people to take over some of these other roles.
The other important change at the AGM was the election of Stuart Lipo as Club Captain, taking over from Steve Davies who is having surgery on his knee. Despite his young years, Stuart has played for the 1st XI for many years and is an excellent man to get us up the TVL Divisions.
