Dear
members
The club has received the
following advice from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB)
“Following the
Government’s latest advice around social distancing, it is with sadness and
reluctance that we
recommend that all forms of recreational cricket are for now
suspended. This extends to training,
pre-season
friendlies and any associated cricket activity. Sport plays an absolutely
vital role in the nation’s mental and
physical wellbeing, and it helps people
find meaning where there is fear and uncertainty, so one of our goals in the
coming weeks will be to explore ways that we can support some levels of
physical activity in communities
- particularly at junior levels.”
you can find the full ECB statement here - https://ecb-comms.co.uk/1FT6-6SKA2-227FV71861/cr.aspx
Our first and foremost
responsibility is to the safety and wellbeing of our members so we must follow
this advice
to the letter. We recognise what a tremendous disappointment this
will be to everyone and we await to here
what ideas the ECB may come up with.
Our two Junior Sections are already thinking about sending out practice
routines and ideas via media to our families. The Committee would also like to
recognise the dedicated work that
the coaches and those that support them have
put into the pre-season work including the success we have had in
the indoor
leagues. The young players have also worked ever so hard and I’m sure it will
not be wasted.
One immediate consequence
is the cancellation of Cricket Force Day on April 4th.
The Committee will be
regular communication with you all and I send all the members and families of
Yateley
Cricket Club the Committee’s very best wishes at this most difficult
time
Stuart Hill – Chairman
