Match Reports

1st XI

Saturday was such a disappointment for Yateley against fellow strugglers Marlow. After electing to bat Yateley were hampered by the weather and frequent breaks led eventually to Marlow being easy winners when Duckworth Lewis Stern (DLS) came into play.

Yateley made a strong start with Jimmy Halson (85) continuing with his rich vein of form. Halson anchored the innings scoring 85. Although difficult to get momentum with the frequent rain intervals the scoreboard kept ticking over. Halson and Jacques Pienaar (52) with a partnership of 101 runs ensured that Yateley scored 209 all out in their 48 overs.

After tea the weather took a turn for the worse and the length of the match was constantly changing, bringing DLS into play. Marlow made a solid start and were always ahead of the run rate helped by Yateley continually giving away extras in the form of wides and no balls. When rain finally set for the day Marlow were 137-3 off 28 overs.  DLS had the Marlow target at 99 leaving them easy winners by 38 runs DLS.

Yateley’s push for safety received a further dent when news came through that Kew had won at Boyne Hill.
