Yateley Cricket Club Sat 2nd XI v Wokingham Oaks & Acorns on Sat 20 Jul 2019 at 1 pm
Yateley Cricket Club Won By 104 runs

Match report Despite a load of rain over the last 24 hours the pitch looked good and under a Ray of Sunshine, Mike took the brave decision to lose the toss and bat. A solid start from John and Asim as they put on 32 before john picked out the cover fielder. That led to Jim joining Asim and it was clear from the First ball that these two would play with Freedom and the rolled back the years with a partnership of 59 that set the innings up nicely. 91-2 turned into 91-3 as Jim and Asim were both back in the pavilion. Pettsy seemed determined to get out and Wokingham were determined to make him stay, Wokingham suffered an injury with a bad cut to one of their fielders and Wokingham were down to 10 briefly until first aider Jim stepped up and said I'm your man and came on as a sub fielder. This seemed to upset the Yateley team with Cameron run out for 20, Pettsy stumped for 21, Vinay ct for 5 and debutant Sanjeet caught for 7, leaving Yateley 147 for 7 and struggling. Enter the Young Guns Owen and Joe who had a great partnership of 56 to take the total past 200. Joe lost his wicket late but Owen top scored with 36 not out and batted really well. We then stopped for a lovely tea courtesy of the Evans family.
So with a healthy total to depend Owen and Vinay won the game within the first 10 overs with a beautiful spell that only went for 15! Sanjeet took over from Owen and Cameron from Vinay and continued to make it difficult and Wokingham were 51 for 0 at the half way stage and out of the game. Joe then finally broke the deadlock as Jim took a simple catch. 52-1 turned into 57-2 with Cameron getting a wicket thanks to the safe hands of Ryan. at 74 for 2 Mike turned to Ryan and he removed Bishop with his first ball thanks to a sharp catch behind from John. Wokingham continued to make steady runs but couldn't cope with the superb bowling from Yateley. Sanjeet then got his reward by bowling Heath who fell just short of a half century. Another wicket for Ryan late on meant that Wokingham ended up 108 for 5 off the 40 overs. The youngsters today bowled really well and were ably supported by old heads Vinay and Ryan, this performance to Skipper Mike to the Edge of Heaven. An excellent Victory!
