Match report On a very hot morning and a long drive down to Parley with a stop at Bournemouth beach, Yateley won the toss again and decided to bat first. With Parley placed second in the league we thought it would be a tough game, BUT with only 9 players we knew we had to bat sensibly and bat out our overs. Alanna took the pressure off of Yateley by scoring 89. A special mention must go to Freya who stayed with Alanna and the girls put on an 89 run partnership. A couple of quick wickets and the pressure started to creep back on to us but, Laura took control of taking the quick singles and even getting Cara to dive to make her ground. After 32 overs Yateley were bowled out for 132.
After a quick stop for tea it was our turn to take to the field in a fired up mood ready to take wickets. Only 3 balls in to the Parley innings we had a half hour disruption due to the Air Ambulance needing to land. So helicopter gone, Yateley took to the field again in good spirit. A couple of overs in and we had our first wicket, a fantastic ball by Molly found the edge of the batsmen and the ball was straight into Laura's gloves. The next wicket wasn't too far behind... a very athletic pick up by Jemma with one stump to aim at and she didn't fail to hit. Wickets then begun to fall regularly - a fantastic catch by Freya at square leg got Debbie her first wicket of the game. Catherine then picked up 3 quick wickets, one of them being a super caught and bowled of the Parley captain. This left 3 wickets for Alanna to come on and take to finish the game with Parley being bowled out for 50 in 16.5 overs. The fielding today from everyone in the team was fantastic and every single catch was taken. The support to each other was good and Anita provided lots of verbal encouragement to everyone.
This was a fantastic team effort and a Yateley win of 82 runs was fully deserved.
