Liz at the Bob Willis Trophy Final 2020

14 Oct 2020

YCC received the following update from the Berkshire Cricket Officials Association about one of our committee members;

We have another story about one of our number using their skills at the highest level.

This time it is our County Scorers Officer, Liz Halson. Liz was invited to sit alongside the official match scorers at Lord’s for the recent Bob Willis Trophy Final when Kent played Somerset.

On day two she was responsible for controlling what was displayed on the three electronic display boards which can either display a traditional-looking scoreboard or any other stats or a set of slides.

Liz was also responsible for tracking the fielders and tapping a screen so that the fielder showed on the big screens when they fielded the ball - not always easy!

On day three she scored in parallel with the official scorers on a laptop (PCS Pro) which was linked to the electronic scoreboard.

Now Liz is a bit of a dark horse because having found this out we then discovered that she did something similar for two T20 Blast matches at Lord’s - Middlesex v Kent and Sussex.

And then to cap it all Liz did a couple of World Cup matches last year - England v Australia and Bangladesh v Pakistan.

We should all be very proud of what Liz has achieved. It just goes to show that there are opportunities and that scorers should not be perceived as being the forgotten members of our organisation.
