Yateley Cricket Club Lost by 39 runs

Match report I like to test how far we have come as a team when we play Rowledge who are the best team around in our age group. looking at total scores it looks like a comfortable win but in my view there was one player the made the difference.
Frida and Amber opened up and despite losing a couple of wickets took the today to 212. Hannah and Debutant Gaby w then faced some very good bowling and a flurry of wickets took us to 201 after 8. Amelie and Aryana batted beautifully not losing a wicket and thanks to a couple of lovely boundaries took us to 227 after 12 overs. Maja and Gabby B continued the recovery adding 18 to take the total to 245. the final pair Lottie and Philippa came out attacking and despite losing 3 wickets took us to a respectable 254 for 9.
Although the total was probably about 20 runs short of a good target, If we bowled well we had a chance.
An early wicket for Lottie started the ball rolling with Rowledge at 213 of 4. then Aryana and Gabby took wickets along with a run out by Lottie to leave the visitors on 218 off 8. then up stepped Frida taking 2 caught and bowled in one over including a simply superb left handed catch to mean Rowledge made 231 off 12 overs. the game was in the balance and more tight overs a run out by Amelie and a wicket for Philippa meant that after 16, Rowledge were on 242 for 8 and we had a slim chance. Rowledge saved the best for last and 51 from this final pair including 2 fours and 2 sixes in the last over took the game away from us. we had no answer to Abby's 36 in 15 balls.
However yet again when defending a low total the Girls made me very proud by giving everything and at times having the opposition in trouble. great effort in the field including gaby's first stint behind the stumps, well done all.
