12 February 2005 - Bob Parker Dies

Ex-Yateley batting star, Bob Parker (John's brother), died at Frimley Park hospital this morning after suffering a stroke a few days ago. Despite showing signs of improvement he then had a heart attack early this morning from which he did not recover. Those who knew Bob will remember him fondly, he had a wicked sense of humour and was a very good batsman.

He played most of his cricket in Gloucester (against Yateley on many occasions unfortunately!) before joining us for a few years when he moved into the area with his wife Ann. He was always a pleasure to play with, and great in the bar. Bob was 57.

Funeral arrangements: Wednesday 23 February
1.30 pm at Easthampstead Crematorium, and following at the Cricket Club clubhouse.

Whilst searching the archives for photos I found the one above (on Derek's bench with Max Kaye and brother John. The one below is very sad indeed - all three are no longer with us (left to right): Bob Thurston, Geoff Gill and Bob with a familar pint in hand.

Ted Cooper, a former Club Captain, died at Frimley Park hospital in the early hours of this morning, following an operation.
Ted is pictured here at Ken Boxall's wedding in January 2003. He was a prolific opening batsman, a useful medium pace bowler and a very safe pair of hands at first slip.

Funeral arrangements: Tuesday 8 February
11 am at Easthampstead Crematorium, followed at 1 pm by a short service of thanksgiving at St. Peter`s Church in Yateley. All welcome back to the house (Mapleton, Handford Lane ) afterwards.
