| 12 February 2005 - Bob Parker Dies |
Ex-Yateley batting star, Bob Parker (John's brother), died at Frimley Park hospital this morning after suffering a stroke a few days ago. Despite showing signs of improvement he then had a heart attack early this morning from which he did not recover. Those who knew Bob will remember him fondly, he had a wicked sense of humour and was a very good batsman. |
He played most of his cricket in Gloucester (against Yateley on many occasions unfortunately!) before joining us for a few years when he moved into the area with his wife Ann. He was always a pleasure to play with, and great in the bar. Bob was 57. |

Whilst searching the archives for photos I found the one above (on Derek's bench with Max Kaye and brother John. The one below is very sad indeed - all three are no longer with us (left to right): Bob Thurston, Geoff Gill and Bob with a familar pint in hand. |
