| YCC member (but ex-playing member, unfortunatley), Colin Ive, has launched what will be the book of the year and offers a special deal to the Club. He will donate £1 for every book sold via Yateley Cricket Club. |

It’s a book of 160 pages of stories about many of the people and situations Colin met during his years as a Yateley firefighter, and of course it’s a book about the crew at Yateley, the great work they did and many continue to do. It also has some information on the first Yateley and Hawley fire stations. One independent reviewer described it as humorous, moving, informative and a good read. And that was without Colin paying her! Colin has published it himself, which means paid for the printing, and is now actively trying to sell it. It would make a great Christmas gift and he would be pleased to give £1 for every book sold via Yateley Cricket Club to the club funds. Its cost is £7.99 which is compatible with most paperbacks today. He is not seeking to make a profit - the cost of printing is very expensive so he is trying to cover this. In addition he is happy to deliver to the door providing this is in Yateley, Eversley, Blackwater or Hartley Wintney. Postage if required is a further £1.25p, or it can be picked up from his house. All people have to do is email Colin at colin.ive@smecontinuity.com or call him on 01252 878276 with their order. He looks forward to donating lots of money to the club. |

Scott Gore was presented with Division 2 Batsman Award by Bill Frindle. Scott and Steve Davies picked up the 1st XI Premier Division Runners Up awards and Scott also picked up the 2nd XI Division 2 Winners Trophy It was disappointing that more than two regular players couldn't have attended. The possibility of an indoor league game may have depleted the firsts and Colin Justice and John Parker were paraded as the oldest first eleven opening attack in league history. Only Scott Gore attended on behalf of the seconds and the club is extremely indebted to him for making the effort as all the other league winning teams had their full teams there. Mrs Parker and Mrs Justice were about to also step forward on the basis of 'we couldn't bring the team but we brought the tea ladies instead' but at the last minute courage was lost.

On Tuesday 27th June the Vodafone Cricket Team will be playing an all day charity match. The day starts at 5am and finishes at around 9pm, this is all in the aid of raising money for Cancer Research. Yateley 1st XI skipper Stephen Davies will be playing in this event and requires support from the Yateley Cricket Club members to sponsor the team. Stephen is also hoping to prove that at the ripe old age of 30 he still has the stamina to play this mammoth innings game and to silence the younger players weekly jibes at "Old Father Time" and continuing hair lose! To sponsor Stephen and his work colleagues please go to: www.justgiving.com/VFcricket Just Giving is an easy to use payment/pledge site and is totally secure. If you wish to make a cash contribution or pledge please see Stephen at the clubhouse or drop him and email stephen.davies@vodafone.com If anyone wants to watch the game it will be played at Sulhamstead Cricket Club (near Theale). |

"Having watched the thrilling end to the girls first win, at only the second attempt, I just want to say a big thanks and congratulations to Emma for her dedication and enthusiam in getting the girls side off the ground. It is a tribute to her that they are playing with such skill and verve as well as having a 'wow' of a time as witnessed by the somewhat unprecented noise levels. Emma didn't mention in her report that Aldershot were unbeaten league leaders, having been running girls cricket for a few years and have many more players than us. It was just an outstanding effort by all the girls. Emma V and Chloe have been invited to join the county under 13 training - well done to them. Thanks again to Emma, Stuart and all the helpers" Colin. |

Who said our 1st XI never do any work at the ground? Well here they are building the recently purchased mobile net. Then, of course, they had to test it on the artificial wicket. Photos courtesy of Steve Davies.
