Ladies Darts Reports - Winter 05/06
28 May - End of Season Report for Winter 2005/2006

Yateley & District Wenesday League.
In our first season we exceeded our expectations to finish a very creditable 5th.. only missing out on a higher position by the odd point. We did well in the competitions, reaching three finals. Sally played well in the singles final and was only narrowly beaten by Sandy from the Centre Club.

Trace and Rene played in the pairs final but on the night couldn't find that all important winning double... so another runners up place was achieved. Well played to Maureen and Maureen from the Dog & Partridge.

In the Fours final, Rose, Rene, Sally and Trace all had chances to win the game, but once again we finished runners up... again to the Centre Club.

Despite ending with no winners trophies, it was a very good end to what has been a promising season.

The Wednesday is Summer League is due to start on the 7th June.

Camberley Ladies Interclub League.
After the highs of winning the League last year, we couldn't maintain that standard again, and after a poor start, we ended the season in 4th position. Considering our usual position in the bottom two, 4th was very good!! We had no luck in any of the competitions, so there are no Thursday night trophies this year!

The Thursday Summer League will start on 22nd June.

We will have a depleted team on Thursdays, as Gill and Jenny leave us to make up another team, but they will hopefully return to us for the Winter season. We will also be missing Sally, who is due to have her baby a few days before the league starts.. and as she's much needed on Wednesday nights, we'll reluctantly let her miss Thursdays.. though maybe not every week!

My congratulations to all teams and players who won leagues and competitions on both Wednesday and Thursday nights, and good luck to everyone in the summer.

Thurs 30 March - Camberley RBL (Camberley League)

This was our final game of the season and we achieved a good result against strong opposition. We started poorly with only Gill winning in the singles. Jan and Steph won their pairs, and we followed up with two wins in the fours. The match was all square at 4.4 but we played well enough to win the gallon, which gave us the points in a hard fought match.

Wed 29 Mar - White Swan (Yateley and District League)

Sally and Trace both won their singles to give us a good start, but things then went rapidly downhill. We didn't manage to win another game until Rose and Sally won the last game in the pairs. The gallon was no better and the evening ended with a 6.3 defeat. This was probably the worst we had played all season, and we all hope we don't have another evening like it.

Wed 15 Mar - Tythings 'A' (Yateley and District League)

Not a good start with Trace and Rose losing but Sally got us a point on the board by winning her game, finishing one leg on an excellent 110 out shot. Rene was unlucky to lose so we needed to start winning in the pairs. That wasn't easy and only Trace and Rene managed to win a game. We played much better in the gallon, and won easily to give us a final score of a 6.3 defeat.

Thurs 9 March - Frimley Green WMC (Camberley League)

Unfortunately, winning the league is well out of our reach this season, and our opponents for this match should soon be holding the title! They have been the most consistent team this year, so we can have no complaints!
Trace failed to get us off to a winning start ,but Rene, Sally and Gill all won to give us the lead after the singles. Rose and Sally played well to win their pairs, and we carried on by winning 1 of the fours games to give us a win of 5.3. We also played well enough to win the gallon, but sadly the winning formula has come far too late!

Wed 1 Mar - Miners arms (Yateley and District League)

After last weeks excellent start, things didn't go as well this time, with only Sally managing a win in the singles. We did much better in the pairs, winning three of the four games. Going into the gallon the scored was tied at 4.4 so we needed a good team effort to win the match. We managed it but only after a very hard fought match.Final score 5.4 win to Yateley. Well played to Collette and her girls, who all gave us a hard game.

Wed 22 Feb - Dog & Partridge (Yateley and District League)

We got off to a good start with Sally then Rene winning their singles. Rose was very unlucky to lose but Trace won to give us a 3.1 lead. In the pairs both Sally and Rose and Trace and Rene won all their games to give us a 7.1 score. Not content with that we went on to win the gallon as well to finish the evening with a massive 8.1 score. The Dog & Partridge are always at the top of the league so this was a brilliant performance by Yateley.

Thurs 16 Feb - Pairs Competition (Camberley League)

Trace and Rene were the only pair to get through to the last eight, but knew they were up against tough opposition whoever they got drawn to play against! The draw wasn't kind to us, putting us up against Beryl and Anita but somehow we managed to beat them! So,into the last four... where we went up against Pat and Janet. Our luck ran out at this point and we failed to make the final. Never mind, there's always next year! Good luck to Vie and Dawn and Pat and Janet in the final.

Wed 15 Feb - Centre Club (Yateley and District League)

Another bad start to the singles with only Trace managing a win. Rose and Sally won one of their pairs,as did Rene and Trace, so with the score at 3.5 we were hoping to do well in the gallon..and we managed it! After such a poor start a 5.4 loss didn't seem too bad! Wednesday nights need to get back onto the winning track if we are to stay in the top half of the league.

Thurs 9 Feb - Old Dean Bowling Club (Camberley League)

Tracey reports:
A poor start again with Trace and Rene failing to win, but Sally and Steph played well to level the score at 2.2 after the singles. Jan and Rose and Trace and Rene both won the pairs and the winning continued in the fours with us winning both games. We won the match comfortably 6.2 but couldn't finish the evening with a win in the gallon.

Wed 8 Feb - Crowthorne Social (Yateley and District League)

We got off to the worst possible start by losing the first 3 games in the singles. Trace managed a win to give us a slight chance, but when Sally and Rose lost the first game in the pairs we looked doomed! However, the troops rallied and Rene and Trace won both their games and Sally and Rose won their second game. We'd managed the seemingly impossible and levelled the match at 4.4, so the gallon was to be the decider. We won the first leg but failed to win the next two, so the match was lost 5.4. Considering the awful start, it was a very good result for the Yateley girls!

Wed 1 Feb - Railway Arms (Yateley and District League)

Tracey reports:
A poor start with Rose and Trace failing to win. Sally and Rene both won their games to level the scores at 2.2. Rose and Sally won the first game in the pairs but we failed to win another game in the match.. so a rare Wednesday defeat was the outcome. Well done to Barb and the girls, who thoroughly deserved their 6.3 win.

Wed 25 Jan - Anchor (Yateley and District League)

Tracey reports:
With Sally and Trace both losing, it was up to Rene and Rose to ensure we were level after the singles..and they managed it! We went on to win 3 of the 4 pairs so once again we had achieved a winning score. We failed to improve on the 5 by losing the gallon, but the end result was a 5.4 win to Yateley.

Thurs 19 Jan - Metropole B (Camberley League)

Tracey reports:
Jenny got us off to a winning start, but with Trace and Rene losing, the pressure was on Rose to get us level..and she did! Gill and Sally put us in the lead by winning their pairs, and Jan and Steph followed suit. Having won 4 games, we couldn't lose the match, but the wins continued when we won the first game of fours. Unfortunately, that was the last game we won but it was enough for us to win the match 5.3

Wed 18 Jan - Hawley Bridge (Yateley and District League)

Tracey reports:
A reasonable start in the singles with both Sally and Trace winning, and with both Rose and Sally and Rene and Trace winning a game apiece in the pairs, the result was to be decided by the gallon.. which we just managed to win. So, at the end of the match we were happy to finish with a 5.4 win to Yateley.

Thurs 12 Jan - Frimley Community (Camberley League)

Tracey reports:
Against a team we usually struggle to beat, we were pleased to be level at 2.2 after the singles with Sally and Trace winning. Things went rapidly downhill after that, and we didn't win another game. The match was lost 6.2 and we also failed to win the gallon. Well played to Vie and the girls, who thoroughly deserved to win.

Wed 11 Jan - White Swan (Yateley and District League)

Tracey reports:
What a way to start after the christmas break.. after the singles we were 4.0 up, with us all having played really well. Rene and Trace won both their pairs and Rose and Sally won one of their games to put us 7.1 up with the gallon to play. We were unlucky to lose out as both teams got syuck on the dreaded double one, and it wasn't us that finally got the match to an end. Never mind, a very good result with a 7.2 win to Yateley.

Thurs 15 Dec - Metropole 'A' (Camberley League)

Tracey reports:
A match we hoped to get a decent result from, and yes, at last we managed it! All four pairs won their games, and we continued in the fours, winning another two games. We won the match comfortably by 6.2 and then won the gallon. An excellent performance by all the girls, and a good ending to the Thursday night darts for 2005.

Wed 14 Dec - Southwood GC (Yateley and District League)

Tracey reports:
Rene and Sally both won their singles, but Rose and Trace couldn't manage to follow suit! We went one better in the pairs, winning three of the four games. The winning unfortunately got lost in the gallon, but never mind, the match was won. Final score.. 5.4 to Yateley.

Wed 7 Dec - Tythings (Yateley and District League)

Tracey reports:
An awful start with us losing all four of the singles games. Things improved slightly in the pairs with us winning two games, both pairs winning a game each. We carried on the winning streak in the gallon and the match ended in a 6.3 defeat.

Thurs 1 Dec - Frimley Green WMC (Camberley League)

Tracey reports:
A match which we played a different format.. 4 games of pairs, 4 games of fours and a gallon. Rene and Trace played first against Nina and Anna, but after ages trying to get the elusive double we were1 game down. Only Jenny and Rose managed to win so we went into the fours 3.1 down. As if that wasn't bad enough, we lost all the next 4 games to lose the match 7.1. A small consolation, but we did manage to win the gallon. Well played to Pat and her girls, who deserved the emphatic win!

Wed 23 Nov - Miners arms (Yateley and District League)

Tracey reports:
We really needed a win after the loss last week, but we got off to a bad start when the Captain didn't lead by example!Rose also failed to win, but Sally and Rene managed to keep us in the match by winning their games. We were totally outplayed in the pairs, winning only one of the four games. We did play better in the gallon and the evening ended in a 5.4 loss. All credit to stand-in captain Tina and her team, they provided us with a tough challenge, that on the night we couldn't overcome.

Thurs 17 Nov - Pairs Competition (Camberley League)

Tracey reports:
This week saw us play in the first competition of the season...we had four pairs playing; all at different venues.Unfortunately things didn't go to plan, with Jan and Ann, Jenny and Rose and Sally and Gill all unlucky to lose. Rene and Trace did a bit better and managed to get through the evening unbeaten, therefore putting them through to the final eight pairs left in the competition.

Wed 16 Nov - Dog & Partridge (Yateley and District League)

Tracey reports:
We had a really bad start in this match with Sally,Rene and Rose all unlucky to lose their singles, but Trace managed to pull us a bit closer by winning. Both pairs won a game each to level the match at 3 all but we failed to win either of the next two pairs.we did manage to win the gallon to give us a final score of 4.5, our first loss of the season.

Thurs 10 Nov - Old Dean Bowling (Camberley League)

Tracey reports:
In a match played to the home teams way of playing, we had to play all pairs and fours, with no singles games. Jenny and Rose and Gill and Sally both won their pairs, but we had no luck in the fours, with only Trace,Rene,Rose and Sally winning a game. The match was lost 5.3,and the losing continued in the gallon. Not a night to remember!!

Wed 9 Nov - Centre Club (Yateley and District League)

Tracey reports:
We've never played the Centre Club team before so didn't know what to expect..but were pleasantly surprised with the end result. Sally and Trace both won their singles, though Rene and Rose were both unlucky to lose. With Rene and Trace and Sally and Rose both winning a game each in the pairs, we went into the gallon all square. We all played well and managed to win a hard fought game to give us a final score of a 5.4 win to Yateley. Three matches played and we've won them all,so Wednesday seems a good evening for darts!

Thurs 3 Nov - Camberley RBL (Camberley League)

Tracey reports:
Having just won the Summer League, Camberley provided a tough challenge for us. Rose got us off to a good start in the singles, and when Sally won we went into the pairs level. Jan and Ann played brilliantly to win theit game, but Trace and Rene didn't do as well. We failed to capitalise on winning chances in the fours and lost both games, so ended up losing the match 5.3. Things didn't improve in the gallon,so in a match we could have won, our Thursday nights continued their losing run. Better luck next week.

Wed 2 Nov - Crowthorne SC (Yateley and District League)

Tracey reports:
We lost both games to Crowthorne last season, a team who were promoted in the Three Counties League,so we weren't confident of doing well. However, we got off to an excellent start, with Trace,Rene and Sally winning their singles. With Rose and Sally and Rene and Trace both winning one game apiece in the pairs, we had won the match. We were unlucky to lose the Gallon, but very happy to come away with a 5.4 win. WELL PLAYED YATELEY.

Thurs 27 Oct - Metropole B (Camberley League)

Tracey reports:
What a disaster! We went into this game confident of getting a decent result, but on the night it just didn't happen. Thanks mainly to our 2 new players, we won 2 points out of a possible 8. Jenny was the only one to win a singles game, and Gill paired up with Sally to win our only other game. We couldn't do any better in the gallon, and lost that as well.

Thurs 20 Oct - Frimley Community Centre (Camberley League)

Tracey reports:
Not the result we hoped for this time, with only Sally winning in the singles, though we all played well until needing the double!Rene and Trace won their pairs, but by then the match was almost out of reach. We lost both games in the fours to lose the match 6 . 2 but gained some respectability in the gallon when our newest player, Jenny, got the all important double. If we're to retain our League title, we cannot afford any more bad results, so the pressures well and truly on.

Wed 19 Oct - Anchor (Yateley and District League)

Tracey reports:
The first game of a new season in a new league..and a good start was hoped for,and achieved!
Jan,Sally and Trace all won their singles to give us a 3 . 1 lead. Sally and Jan won one game of pairs and Rene and Trace won both their games. The winning formula continued in the gallon and we finished the evening with a final score of 7 . 2

Thurs 13 Oct - Metropole 'A' (Camberley Interclub League)

Tracey reports:
A new season, new players and new shirts! A big welcome to Gill and Jenny who have joined our team to replace a couple of players who are no longer playing. Gill has been playing in this league since the year dot..and Jenny a lot less, its her first season.
We got off to a good start, with Sally, Rene and Gill winning their singles. The captain didnt lead by example, being the one to lose! Rose and Jenny played well together and won their pairs,to give us a 4.1 lead. Jan and Rene couldnt come up with a win so the fours were crucial to get us of to a winning start. We managed to secure the match when the first four won their game.. just as well as we lost the next one. We didn't fare well in the Gallon, but theres a long way to go in the season! Final score..a 5 . 3 win to Yateley.
